Notes

Finding Rover is a pet tech company that makes facial recognition software for dogs and cats.

Here is how it works: a pet owner who has lost a pet submits the animal’s photo through Finding Rover’s app or website. The photo is then matched against pictures of new stray dogs and cats at participating shelters. The photo is also matched against any animals uploaded as “found” by community members. If there are matches, the owner is notified and can view the matches.

According to CEO John Polimeno, the app has more than 700,000 pet pictures and works with 700 shelters around the world, growing its network by 5 to 7 shelters a week (July 2019.)
