Sony announced that it will be releasing a robot dog named Aibo in January. This is a new version of a similar product that went on the market in 1999. The new Aibo will be linked to the cloud and use AI to interact with it’s owners.
Initially, Aibo will only be available in Japan, priced at 198,000 yen (approximately USD $1,750) and will require a monthly subscription service that will cost about $25 a month. The steep price doesn’t appear to be a problem however; Sony sold out it’s entire inventory the first day Aibo was offered to the public. Get on the wait list here.
